Gaps of knowledge and conservation of common and rare species

Geographic range, habitat specialization, and population size are three parameters typically combined to classify rare and common species. Common species are those with large local populations, a wide geographic range, and habitat generalization. Rare species, on the other hand, have small populations, specialized habitats, and restricted geographic ranges. The project aims to respond to two questions: What impact does the knowledge gap have on rare species classification? How may the impact of these shortcomings in rare species conservation be reduced?
